The Farm History

Farmed by our family since 1904.

Upper Parsonage Farm is part of a 1400 acre family farm, owned and farmed by the family since our Great Grandfather migrated from Cumbria in 1904. We are now in our fourth generation and it is currently farmed by  Sue’s husband Nick and son, Jack, with Nick’s brother Matthew and his son Joe.

It is a mixed traditional farm of 400 sheep, all grazed on the South Downs. Predominately we now farm wheat, barley, and oats and rape. We farm another 1800 acres for our cousin and two neighbouring farms. It’s quite a spectacle in the Summer months when the crops are harvested, with combines working across all the neighbouring fields!

The Farm is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of which we are very proud. Nick has signed up to a very comprehensive programme to re-integrate a wide range of flora and fauna on to our farm.

The farm has seen many changes since Sue started our hospitality business in 2004, from our first Dutch visitors that asked to camp, to a small campsite, Shepherd’s Hut and an individual self-catering room. Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Meon Valley, we pride ourselves in a relaxing countryside stay.
